InSIGHT Out!
 

InSIGHT Out! Is a creative empowerment project for young people living in tsunami-affected communities in Banda Aceh, Indonesia and southern Thailand. Storytelling using visual images and words is a powerful medium for youth to navigate memory, uncertainty, inner strength and dreams.

With a helping hand from a group of international photo-journalists, these traumatized children have learned to express themselves. Their photographs show their expressions of survival, hopes and dreams. The results speak for themselves.

“The images that have come out of these workshops are really amazing,” says Jeanne Hallacy, a Bangkok-based journalist and one of the coordinators of the project. “When people look at the images we have edited from the various workshops, they find it hard to believe these pictures were created by children.”
